Hand Therapy

Due to the complex nature of the mechanics of the hand, this has been one of the most long standing areas of specialty in Physiotherapy.

Hand Therapists can assess and treat a large number of conditions affecting the hand, wrist and forearm:

Following a full assessment a patient would receive an explanation of the condition and treatment options. Treatment may consist of:

  • Exercises
  • Splints / Strapping / Taping
  • Joint mobilisation / Manipulation
  • Soft tissue mobilisation or massage
  • Ultrasound
  • Scar management / Desensitisation
  • Ergonomic assessment and advice
