Claire did her physiotherapy training at Guys Hospital in London, qualifying in 1990.
She was then employed by Southend Hospital to do her junior rotations. Claire continued to work at
the hospital for 16 years where she was the Clinical Specialist in Hydrotherapy – responsible for all
training of junior staff and students in this specialty.
Claire went on to do a Diploma in Sports Medicine in 1994 which led to her work in various
sports. This includes:
- Charlton Athletic Youth Team for 2 seasons
- Southend Rugby Club Physio for 3 seasons
- Saracens Colts for 1 season
- Eastern Counties Rugby Colts for 2 seasons
Claire is currently employed by the English Institute of Sport to treat elite gymnasts on behalf of
In 2000 Claire carried out an Ergonomics Course and as a result worked in Occupational
Health for 2 years with Ford Motor Company and and continues to provide an Occupational Health
Service for Unilever Best Foods. She established Southbourne Physiotherapy in July 2002 where she continues
to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries and ergonomic issues.
Claire was part of the physiotherapy team in the Polyclinic within the athletes village at the Glasgow 2014
Commonwealth Games. This entailed working with athletes from all sports who were competing at the Games.
